Non-linear Morphology Feedback
Non-linear feedback is the inclusion of additional information about the non-linear shapes of the waveforms that is traditionally discarded. BrainPaint® has stayed true to traditional forms of neurofeedback incorporating a game derived from the linear variables of amplitude and frequency. Layered upon this already proven delivery system, BrainPaint® has added feedback on the non-linear data extracted from the morphology of the EEG. This feedback is represented in the beautiful fractal images.
Alpha Theta Feedback
Alpha Theta feedback is the recommended protocol for PTSD, anxiety, fears, phobias and addictions.
Beta & SMR Feedback
Infra-low Frequency Training | Ultra-Low Frequency Feedback | Slow Corticol Potential Training
Ultra-low frequency training is also known as Infra-low frequency training or slow corticol potential training. Even though we have added ultra-low frequency to our repetoire of protocols, we prefer symptom-based protocols. One reason is alpha-theta protocol (one of many protocols that comes up with a symptom-based evaluation) improves addictions, PTSD, fears and phobias, which the infra-low frequency training has not been proven to address. Other details to be aware of before using this protocol are:
- The need for specialized sensors – Infra-low frequency training requires sintered or chlorided sensors (Ag/AgCl). Even though BrainPaint® can do ultra-low frequency training, we do not provide these specialized sensors with the system. You can order these sensors through Gerionics at (800)654-6266. Be sure to ask how to care for these sensors as they are very fragile, scratch easily and require special care when they are cleaned. Here is a link to an article for more information about the proper sensors needed for ultra-low frequency training.
- The specialized sensor paste needs to have
some concentration of potassium chloride. The
paste that comes with the BrainPaint® system
does have potassium chloride in it.
- The amplifier – A DC (direct current) amplifier
should be used rather than an AC (alternating
current) amplifier. BrainPaint® utilizes the
BrainMaster Atlantis, which is a true DC
The reason for using a DC amplifier:
AC amplifiers significantly omit the DC or slow
frequency component of the brain wave signal.
In addition, AC amplifiers are extremely
sensitive to movement artifacts and require quite a
long time to recover from the slightest twitch,
eye blink, or heart beat. Thus, failing to identify
these artifacts renders the recording useless,
and avoiding or removing them becomes
mandatory. Nevertheless, I have heard credible
reports of people benefiting from ultra-low
frequency training even when the provider was
not using sintered sensors or a DC amplifier. My
hypothesis is that perhaps a completely
different mechanism can explain the results, and
giving feedback on corticol noise is enough to
BrainPrint® is superior filtering software that improves EEG analysis and the subsequent effectiveness of neurofeedback training.

Automated Progress Tool
Automated Assessment Tool
Bill used to teach Practitioners how to manually compute the decision tree for symptom-based neurofeedback. The efficacy of the neurofeedback provided was then dependent on the experience and ability of the provider to calculate protocols from numerous variables. BrainPaint® automates this protocol selection process, thereby increasing the consistency and speed in which a clients get results. The assessment tool is revolutionary, turning new clinicians into experienced practitioners in a fraction of the time. Seasoned practitioners will appreciate the automation – similar to that of computerized chess crunching data to explore the potential of future
moves — allowing the focus to be on the human aspects of the session.
Automated Feedback Coach
One of Bill’s pet peeves is technical issues that necessitate the cancellation of his scheduled clients, sometimes for days, a week, or more in the case of an amplifier going bad. Before BrainPaint® he experienced these downtimes often, which inspired our subscription model. The benefits of sending you a laptop preloaded with the BrainPaint® software include: • Minimal technical support issues • Fast fixes when there is a technical support issue • Automatic software updates • Quality assurance that the feedback your client is receiving is superior We are frequently asked if we can load our software on your computer. The answer is, “No.” Even if we gave you exact specifications, each computer is so individual. For example, each time we purchase a new batch of computers from the same manufacturer, we need to tweak the software. More importantly, our computer has quality controls so that you don’t get a virus, which in turn affects the integrity of feedback. Lastly, the fractal feedback needs an extremely fast processor with hyper-threading and other performance enhancements to run at the required speed.
Brainmaster Atlantis Amplifier
The BrainMaster Atlantis Amplifier is provided with the BrainPaint® neurofeedback system. One of the benefits of a subscription is minimal downtime even if your amplifier goes bad. In the event your amplifier has a technical support issue, we will expedite a replacement to you so that you do not have to cancel over a week of scheduled clients. We have chosen the BrainMaster Atlantis amplifier for our system for the following reasons: • Continuous real-time impedance monitoring • USB connection so it doesn’t need batteries • High quality of signal • Ultra low frequencies, otherwise known as Slow Cortical Potential
EEG Sensors come with our Neurofeedback Equipment. We start you out with two ear clips and two sensors of very high quality. If properly cared for, this initial set should last for years. Sensors are also considers disposables, therefore, BrainPaint® does not supply replacements. It is a good idea, especially for institutions, to have a spare set since they can break when mishandled. A spare set runs around $50.
We start you out with a tube of Ten20 conductive paste, which lasts a very long time. We also send a headband and sponges with the starter kit so that you can more easily hook yourself up for sessions. Some practitioners prefer to use a headband and sponges with their clients while other prefer to only use paste. We’ll teach you both ways, and you can decide what you prefer. Accessories are considered disposables, therefore, after the initial kit BrainPaint® will not supply replacements. A tube of paste cost about $3 and lasts for months.
Neurofeedback Training – Initial Webinar
Neurofeedback training provided in the 4.5 hour Webinar is only the beginning of the extensive neurofeedback training we offer on an ongoing basis. In this training, instructor Bill Scott covers the following: An explanation of neurofeedback
- What neurofeedback can and can’t do
- How to explain neurofeedback to clients
- Nuances of the assessment tool
- About protocols
- Creating measurable goals
- Client brainwave training instructions
As mentioned this Webinar is just an initial neurofeedback training to get new providers going. For institutions and clinics, the number of technicians or practitioners allowed to participate is unlimited. In addition, providers are allowed to audit more than one Webinar—this is especially helpful if institutions or clinics hire a new employee. BrainPaint® will help get your new employee up and running with our neurofeedback training, which included in the subscription price. BrainPaint® is an approved vendor for providing units for certification. This initial Webinar neurofeedback training provides 5 units towards certification. For more information, go to http://neurofeedback-certification.com
Neurofeedback Training DVD
An instructional DVD comes with the system, which covers step-by-step instructions from unpacking the system to hooking yourself or someone else up for sessions.
Neurofeedback Training l Ongoing Conference Calls
Neurofeedback training continues after the initial Webinar training during weekly conference calls. Bill Scott conducts these weekly calls and learning continues now that providers have a context to integrate more advanced information. Providers are invited to participate for the entire 100 minute call or jump on to ask a clinical question and then exit. The weekly conference calls are ongoing, and provide 2 units of credit for individuals working toward or renewing certification. Here again, there is no limit to the number of employees allowed to call in to learn and ask clinical questions. Periodically, we dedicate a conference call to teaching a new feature that was added to the software (e.g. ultra low frequency training was recently added), or we have an advanced class on one topic (e.g. alpha-theta training).
Neurofeedback Training Private Sessions
Neurofeedback Training in the form of private sessions with Board Certified Neurotherapist Instructor Bill Scott (also the creator of BrainPaint) is included in the first month of the subscription. Bill Scott has over 18 years experience in the field of EEG biofeedback, and has taught over 3,000 practitioners around the world for neurofeedback providers: Stens, EEG Spectrum, Othmers, Thought Technologies and BrainMaster. New providers call to schedule one hour private sessions during the first month of the subscription. If there are scheduling conflicts, we allow new providers to schedule up to (4) one hour private sessions with Bill during subsequent months. If providers would like additional private sessions after their initial four, they can schedule them for a fee of $60/half hour.
Ongoing Conference Calls
After the intial training, providers are invited to participate in a weekly conference call. Bill conducts these weekly calls and learning continues now that providers have a context to integrate more advanced information. Providers are invited to participate for the entire 100 minute call orjump on to ask a clinical question and then exit. A provider is welcome to email their question in advance so when they dial-in Bill has been notified they have a time constraint and need their question answered promptly. The weekly conference calls are ongoing, and provide 2 units of credit for individuals working toward or renewing certification. Here again, there is no limit to the number of employees allowed to call in to learn and ask clinical
Bill consistently updates the software, and these updates are automatically rolled out to everyone. For example, our ultra low frequency trainer was recently released to everyone. This ensures that you never have an obsolete system, and are always providing your clients with the most advanced neurofeedback protocols available.
Due to the stability and consistency of our platform, we have very few technical support issues. 90% of our software related issues are automated to self-correct immediately without any human intervention. For the 10% of them that don’t self-correct, we provide very quick turnaround so that you are minimally inconvenienced. For example, our staff can fix most problems with a touch of a button from their iPhones. If an amplifier or a laptop has an issue we will expedite a replacement to you.
BrainPaint is an accredited organization through the NTCB. This means we can issue continuing eduction units on the basis of one unit (or CEU) for each 50 minutes of instruction applicable under the NTCB. This applies to the initial training and on-going weekly educational conference calls. Click the button for more information on neurofeedback certification. (BUTTON):Certification Info
The sole purpose of the client side (black side) of the BrainPaint® web site is to be a resource for your clients. It provides easy-to-understand explanations of neurofeedback and its benefits. It also has a searchable Directory so that potential clients can find you. We also have brochure templates that can be modified for your neurofeedback practice.
